Account Director, Nonprofit & Advocacy Practice

BerlinRosen, one of the nation’s leading strategic communications firms, is seeking an Account Director to play a key strategic and management role in our work with New York’s leading institutions and changemakers, including helping them meet a wide range of campaign and communications goals in a changing media environment, and creatively and doggedly conceiving and placing stories that are often overlooked or underreported.

So what makes an outstanding Account Director here? A strong public affairs tactician who can think strategically and analytically and be the trusted voice for our clients, develop and execute a plan into a winning strategy to regularly insert our client's priorities into the news cycle, and produce excellent written communications materials, including op-eds, strategy memos, and messaging, all while being a leader internally and empowering your team to be creative while staying ahead of deadlines and deliverables.

 Applicants should possess:

  • 5-7 years of experience in media relations, journalism, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience developing and driving media strategy, including identifying opportunities and targets
  • A proven ability to identify, conceive, and place compelling feature stories in top-tier outlets
  • Excellent written communications skills, including deep experience developing sharp, compelling press materials, pitches, and talking points requiring minimal editing
  • Excellent oral communication skills, confidence, poise in a range of situations; including experience interfacing with clients and members of the media
  • Strong news sense and knowledge of the media, in New York and nationally; existing relationships preferred
  • Experience managing junior staff members
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with a team to meet group objectives
  • Familiarity with and interest in local, state, and national politics and a commitment and passion for progressive politics a plus
